I like that the blades are stiff foam rubber - no whacked fingers, and no extra grill to impede air flow. It's great for small spaces or for setting next to you. Be realistic though - Obviously, the little thing is not something that would do you much good from across the room in a house/home setting. It's great for a cabin, a tent, a boat, a van; and several notches above the battery powered fans I've seen otherwise. Battery life is surprisingly good - usually battery powered fans are dead in a few hours. Not this one. Another excellent Coleman product.
Customer Review: awesome!
I'm surprised to see negative reviews. We've been using these for 3+ years now and have no complaints at all. We use them on our boat in the caribbean. the temps are 80+ w/ humidity at 80+ also. it can get hot and stuffy in the cabin. but not with this fan. it puts out a lot of air for a little fan. and the heavy bottom keeps it from flying around the cabin in rough water or falling over when kicked at night. We run them every night, all night. batteries last about 2 weeks at that rate (about 125 hours.)but i always carry extras just in case. Plan on using one (1) per person. We finally replaced ours after the wiring became disconnected. I couldn't find a way in to that compartment to fix it. but at $14 each, so what.

One of the jewels along the Garden Route, the Wilderness National Park is situated on the banks of the Touw River. This park is reminiscent almost of a fantasy world, complete with entrancing lakes and rivers, beautiful beaches and thick forests blanketing the slopes of the mountains. Among the attractions of this park are excellent bird watching opportunities, hikes along scenic nature trails and of course the chance to camp beneath the wide open African sky. Remember to bring your camera along, because this park offers photographic opportunities of the beautifully lush region which are not to be missed.

Visitors to South Africa, or South African's exploring their own country can look forward to learning a lot more about the local flora and fauna. Wilderness National Park hosts a wide variety of animal and bird-life, as well as forests and shrubs. Be sure to bring along a book on the local birds and a pair of binoculars to make for an unforgettable bird watching experience. Here are some of the birds you can expect to see; the Grey and Purple Heron, the Little Egret, the African Spoonbill, Little Bittern and Red Knobbed Coot. Wild fowl are a common sight in the park, with Yellow Billed Ducks, Macoa Ducks, White Backed Ducks, the Cape Shoveler, Southern Pochard and Hottentots Teal among them.

The bird hide at Rondvlei serves as the ideal location from which watchers can spot the Baillon's Crake, African Rail and Purple Gallinule. A visit to the nearby Swartvlei estuary will give visitors the chance to see more waders and the Caspian Tern, along with many of the birds mentioned above.

The park offers accommodation in the form of a rest camp, named the Ebb & Flow camp, which is divided into north and south sections. Running alongside the rest camp is the Touw River, with the muddy banks patrolled by White Fronted Plover. Along the Touw River are a series of lakes; the Eilandvlei, Langvlei and Rondvlei, each containing a variety of water-life and attracting birds such as the Great Crested and Black Necked Grebe.

During peek periods of the season it becomes essential to book a spot in the park's rest camp, as day visitors will not be allowed. Also take into consideration that pets will not be allowed into the park.

On the whole this park offers a beautiful spot for a getaway trip, especially so for bird lovers. Secluded nature trails are begging to be explored, the lush forests offer private picnic spots and then there is the always present chance of spotting wild game. Keep your eyes open especially for the colourful Knysne Lourie.

Take a trip to the beautiful Wilderness National Park on the Garden Route of South Africa.

Eureka! This item has been manufactured to the highest standards. This item: TENT, COPPER CANYON 1512
Customer Review: The most awesome tent ever!
We set this tent up for a practice run on a windy day in the park and it was surprisingly fast and easy. Out first time actually camping was fabulous. The tent is so roomy and the best part is my very tall husband can stand up and even walk around inside.
Customer Review: Copper Canyon 1512: spacious, dry (mostly)
We took this tent to a medieval reenactment event. Pros: Size. This tent was large enough and to spare for us. We take a queen size air mattress, which takes up a lot of floor space in most tents. We also made up a dog bed for our 50 lb dog next to ours. Still had plenty of space for gear, food, and clothes. The ceiling height of the tent was awesome as well. My hubby is very tall and he could walk around in the tent without stooping. This has the highest ceiling of any modern tent I could find. Setup was accomplished in short order by four men. It wouldn't have taken that many, but who can say no to offered help? Dry. We stayed dry when many of our neighbors did not. It rained lightly, but steadily for about 36 hours. There was some dampness from water seeping up from beneath the tent. The seepage occurred where we had been walking in the tent. I don't think any other tent would have performed better. Shape. The cabin style blended in a bit better with the period tents than a dome or other modern tent. Ventilation was good. No condensation to speak of. Cons: Guy lines. The orange guy lines tended to blend in with the brown earth, making them hard to see. At least one broke because someone walked through it. I will be replacing those with a brighter color. Awning. The awning seemed pointless to me. It may have helped shield the door from the rain. However, it was very good at catching/holding rain water, probably about 5 gallons worth. The poles held up just fine even under the strain of 40 extra pounds. Stakes. We didn't use the ones that came with the tent, so I can't comment on those. All in all a great tent for our needs. We still have plenty of room inside for our growing family (bun in the oven). I expect this tent to suit us for many years to come. There were a few minor nuisances, but I am extremely pleased with the performance of this tent. If it hadn't been for this tent, we would have left the event early as the conditions were miserable.

When backpacking or camping you will need a good set of cooking gear. Cooking in the outdoors is a lot harder than cooking at home in a nicely furnished kitchen. So the Backpacking Cookware that you will use outdoors will be quite a bit different from what you use at home.

To make your choice of the right Backpacking Cookware to take, you will first need to know what is available on the market for you to buy. Below is a list of the most popular types, along with their good and bad points.

ALUMINIUM.

This used to be the first choice of backpackers, lightweight campers, and hikers because it is very light. However it is not as strong or durable as some of the other materials used for cookware. Food tends to stick to it making it difficult to clean in an outdoor situation. Also Aluminium has been linked to some health problems, as it tends to breakdown over time and can contaminate the food cooked in it. Having said this, I have used Aluminium for many years with no harmful effects. (I would still rate it as a good choice as you will properly only be using it for a few weeks of any one year.)

STAINLESS STEEL.

The main drawback here is the weight, as it is a lot heavier than other types of backpacking cookware. Also it is not the best at distributing the heat evenly and the food must be stirred or moved constantly to ensure even cooking. Stainless steel is very tough and strong though, and will stand up to almost anything that can happen to it in the outdoors.

LIGHTWEIGHT STAINLESS STEEL.

The introduction of new technology has come up with a lighter weight stainless steel, it has all the durability and strength, but as its name suggests is considerably lighter.

TITANIUM.

The modern first choice. It is very light, it is also very durable and tough, and a better distributor of heat when compared to stainless steel. A good set of Titanium cookware will last a very long time. The only downside is its price, as it can be expensive when compared with the other materials.

A FEW BASIC TIPS.

(1)Are you choosing a solo backpacking set of cookware, or do you want a kit that will do for two or more people?
(2)Pots with a slightly rounded bottom will distribute heat better than flat bottomed ones.
(3)Make sure the pots have a good fitting lid, as this will cut down on your cooking times, saving you fuel.
(4)Try to buy proper Backpacking Cookware as opposed to ordinary cookware, as the former should have folding or detachable handles to make packing it into your backpack much easier.

Mike Legg is a seasoned hiker with many years experience of backpacking Europe. Taken a step further, it can develop your product lines for you.

Keyword Research and Product Lines

Finding success in e-commerce can really be boiled down to one theme. Identify the needs of your prospects and provide a solution for them. It is that simple. You should write out that statement, print it out and hang it over your monitor. If you stray from this theme, you will have problems making money.

Keyword research is the key to identifying the needs of your prospects. When doing the research, you should identify the phrases they are using to search for solutions to their needs. Most people understand this concept, but fail to take the process to the next step.

More than a few people have said they do not want to pursue rankings under a set of keywords because they do not carry such products or provide such services. If you have ever said the same thing, you are blowing it.

Remember, we are identifying the needs of prospects. If we do not have products or services oriented to an easily identified need we identify through keyword research, what should we do? We should get products or figure out a way to supply the service!

Assume we have a site selling hiking and backpacking gear. We have backpacks, guide books, tents and so on. When doing our keyword research, we find out our prospects are also looking for writing journals in which they can record their hikes. Since we dont carry hiking journals, we want to avoid those keywords, correct? NO! We want to find a line of writing journals for hiking and add them to our catalogue of products. We value our prospects and that means providing them with solutions to all of their needs. By doing so, they will return to out site again and again when they need new hiking gear.

One of the more difficult things for online businesses to pick up is the fact that you should never design your site based on your view of your business. Your prospects should design it. By this, I mean that you should look to keyword research to identify all the product lines and/or services you are going to offer.

Find out what your prospects are search for and ignore everything else. Follow this guideline and your site will evolve into a revenue producer.

Halstatt Pires is with MarketingTitan.com - providing internet marketing services.

Wenzel Timber Ridge Sport 9-by-7-Foot Four-Person Dome Tent

Keep your load limber during long hikes and extended cycling excursions with the Wenzel Timber Creek Sport dome tent. Large enough to sleep four people at once yet compact enough to fit conveniently on a backpack or saddle bags, the tent is great for all types of camping and conditions. The Timer Creek Sport includes such features as a Dutch D-style door for easy entry, along with a shock-corded fiberglass frame with pole pockets that sets up and disassembles quickly. Campers will also appreciate the weather-armor polyester fabric and tough side seams, which are reliably rugged and resist leaks of all kinds. The window and roof vents, meanwhile, do a nice job of ventilating the tent and controlling morning moisture.
Additional details include water-repellent threads, zippers, and webbing; a sonic-sealed floor that's welded (not sewn) to eliminate stitch and needle holes; and a removable fly for wet weather conditions. The Timer Creek Sport measures 9 feet wide by 7 feet long and is backed by a 10-year limited warranty.
  Amazon.com Tent Guide
Selecting a Tent
Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
  Expect the Worst
In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in! If you're a backpacker, alpine climber or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to take something designed to handle more adversity.
  Three- and Four-Season Tents
For summer, early fall and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.
For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.
  Domes and Tunnels
Tents are broadly categorized into two types, freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and those that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being more lightweight. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.
  Size Matters
Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.
Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is also available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.

Customer Review: GREAT tent for $25
I've had this tent for just over a year now. It's been used about 20x. It has amazing quality thru-out. Nothing has torn-up with it at all. The floor is still completely sealed and there are no signs of anything wearing. Amazon had it on clearance back in March of 2007 for right at $25. My only regret is that I didn't buy 2 or 3 of them @ that price... GREAT PRODUCT... GREAT QUALITY...
Customer Review: Exactly as expected
This tent was perfect for my price range. I took this camping and it is quite light. It is especially light if you're going to have 3 people sleeping in the tent and I think it is safe to say that 3 people could backpack with this tent (by each carrying a 1/3rd of the tent weight). Four people, although technically do-able without gear, would be quite a tight squeeze. Tent was an easy, standard set-up as far as tents go, and we were able to take it down in the rain in only a few minutes. Definitely a good purchase for the price (only tested in a light drizzle).

Wedding tents can be a blessing in disguise and are designed to give you options that you thought were not possible...

You are about to embark on the planning and preparation of a wedding and my guess is that it will be a Spring/Summer wedding, and you are thinking about the idea of renting a wedding tent. The idea to host a wedding, or at least the reception in the garden, or on a beach, is an idea that appeals to many brides-to-be.

However, the more you have considered hosting your wedding outside, the more you will have realized that no matter how well you plan in advance for your wedding, the weather is something you simply cannot plan or control. Even in the summer there is always a good chance that it could rain, be windy or a little cooler than what was forecasted. These weather factors could put a strain on your day as you will be worrying what the weather has in store for you, and, if the worst should happen, the guests won't like to be stuck outdoors in the rain or wind.

Renting a wedding tent is a perfect 'Plan B' option for several reasons:

They are remarkably easy to erect and take down;

You can choose the size and design to suit your occasion;

You can decorate them to fit in with the theme of your wedding;

Your guests can have the option to mingle inside or outside of the tent, depending on the weather;

Your guests will be impressed with such an elegant structure and convenience;

You can have your dream 'outdoor' wedding without the worry of the weather!

Wedding tents can come in all types of shapes and sizes to suit your individual needs and taste. For example, if you want to hold the whole reception outside, then you can opt for a large marquee type tent that can cover an entire dining room and dance floor included. Or, if you just wanted something small and eloquent to cover a buffet table, for example, then you could simply opt for a small awning.

Obviously the cost of renting wedding tents will vary enormously depending on the size you choose. Therefore it would pay you to shop around and do your research on various wedding tent rental stores to get the best value for your money. You can either do your research online or look in your local Yellow Pages directory to see what wedding tent stores are near you and if they include the price of erecting and taking down the tent for you.

If you are planning an outdoor wedding and are thinking of renting a wedding tent, then I am sure that your head is now buzzing with lots of ideas on what type of wedding tent is right for your occasion, how will you dress it, where exactly to place it in your garden, or favorite beach location. The ideas are endless as to what a great impact a simple wedding tent can do to save your outdoor wedding worries.

Claire Bowes is a successful Webmaster and publisher of Wedding Planning Guide She provides more wedding planning advice on Wedding Tents Rental that you can research without leaving your home.

Eureka Timberline Outfitter 4 9- by 7-Foot Four-Person Tent

TOUGH as Ben Hur. However, with a little common sense, one can easily figure out how to put this tent up. Seems like a nice quality and sturdy tent, so far. Perfect size for two people with "stuff."
Customer Review: Best Boy Scout Tent.. Hands Down
I am a Scoutmaster. We have purchased many tents in the past for trials. Mostly Eureka tents but we have some Coleman, North Peak, ect... The last set of tents we purchased were the Eureka Timberline 4 (NOT THE OUTFITTER). This is a HUGE mistake. We camp between 1 - 3 times a month rain or shine, cold or hot. We have two other outfitters that were purchased back in 1988 that are still in full operation. Every other tent (including the regular timberlines from Eureka) just do not hold up to the use we put these things through. The extra heavy flooring that is factory sealed does not allow water in PERIOD. The first time we took the four new ones out that we recently purchased, there was literely a stream of water three feet wide going UNDER the tent. In one night, we had 2.8 inches of rain in a 3 hour period. Not one drop got through the new Eureka Timberline Outfitter 4's Rainfly or door/window zippers. The kids stayed in their tents and I was really suprised that there was not even condensation on the inside of their tents from their breath. HOWEVER, the boys that were in the old Timberline 4's (not the outfitter series) were DRENCHED. We had seamsealed the tents (something for which the outfitters you NEVER have to do) but it still got through because of the rough use we put them through split the seamseal resin We had just applied it in March but had went on 4 campouts since then. I called the company about it, I didn't know that EACH time you put up and take down your tent, you are supposed to seamseal. Anyway, best tent ever made for a Boy Scout Troop or anyone that does a lot of camping. If you need a bigger tent, go with the Timberline Outfitter 6. That is what I use. We fit two adults with cots in it comfortably. The only water that got into it was when I dragged in my drenched body from the rain. Food and water are essential aspects of staying energized on a backpacking trip, so understanding the best ways to prepare and pack food can really help you plan a good menu.

Weight is always a concern with backpacking food, since you'll be carrying everything on your back. You should try to bring food that is lightweight, durable, and easy to cook out in the wild.

Some backpackers like to cook elaborate meals with fresh ingredients, particularly on short trips, while others carry the gear and take the time to catch fish or hunt small game for food. However, especially for long expeditions, most backpackers' food criteria are more or less the same: high energy content (particularly protein), with long shelf life, and low mass and volume.

Ordinary household foods brought on backpacking trips include cheese, bread, sausage, fruit, peanut butter, and pasta. Popular foods for snacks include trail mix, easily prepared at home; convenient and nutritious energy bars; and chocolate and other forms of candy, which provide quick energy and flavor. Traditional outdoor food includes dried foods like jerky or pemmican, and also products like oatmeal (which can also be consumed raw in emergency situations).

Another common variety of special backpacking food is freeze-dried food, which can be quickly reconstituted by adding hot water. One kind of special food is Meal Ready-to-Eat (MRE), which originated from the United States military. They make excellent food for several reasons; they do not need to be rehydrated nor heated or cooked in any manner. They are very durably packaged. A single MRE contains a full meal, complete with snack and desert, and they offer a great deal of variety in each meal.

To make certain water is safe to drink you should filter it and add a water treatment to it. Iodine tablets are popular because they are easy to use, but they can result in the water having a weird taste. A solution to the taste problem is to add sugar free drink mix to the water. If you need to filter water due to debris it has in it, you can use cheesecloth. You could use a clean bandanna for a makeshift filter.

You should always consider the nature of the trip when you choose your backpacking food. Hot meals are much more important in cold climates, for example. Food and water are your main energy source, and if you are not eating right and getting plenty to drink, it can have a severe negative effect on your backpacking adventures.

Visit us for more information on backpacking food ideas, top backpacking places and zipoff hiking pants.

ABO Gear Instent Pop Up Max Screen Tent Beach Cabana

The Instant - "Up in seconds, down in a flash " has a unique "instant" pop up frame mechanism. So I'm going to answer that question right here for the last time.

There are literally hundreds of reasons to go camping in New Jersey, but there is one large, and I mean really large, reason:

Where else in the country can you drive less then 3 hours and go from the mountains, to the shore, to the marshlands, to 3 different major metropolitan areas to several major lakes and everywhere in between?

Camping in New Jersey is literally the best of all worlds. There is just about nothing you cannot do while you camp in New Jersey. Crack Rock Steady is the record that started it all, the revenge of ska, the gutter edge of satiric punk. A combination of two classic seven-inches (Crack Rock Steady and Squatters Paradise) the disc documents the rise of Leftover Crack frontman Stza, drummer Sqwert and Bassist Alec from the gritty roots of the underground to fame as one of the most eccentric and honest bands to pick up instruments.
Customer Review: yeah n asdf4w8
a friend of mine told me something the other day... and it's so so true... "i love leftover crack...it's like...METAL SKA. but then there's choking victim...which is just SKA METAL." then i pointed out that they weren't really metal so much as they are really hard at times. but anyway... get this now. if you have mediocre generica - leftover crack then you're familiar with the song Born To Die...but this version isn't so...sparkly. it's really good though. so buy this.
Customer Review: Amazing
This is just raw, uncut, unreheresed, punk. All the songs are great. I don't see how anyone could not enjoy songs like "Choking Victim" & "Apple Pie & Police State". If you like Leftover Crack, and you are not sure whether to get this or not, just do it, you won't be dissapointed at all.

There are many ways to camp. And then, there are awesome ways to camp.

Ordinary campers pack their gear and take off for their campgrounds or state parks. Extraordinary campers, look, surf, research and plan exactly what they are taking with them. They pack their gear, but before they close their packs up, they go through the gear one more time for the perfect packing experience. And they prepare weeks in advance instead of packing the night before.

Here is what these campers look for:

Items that do double duty (For example, a flying disk toy can also be used as a plate or a paper plate holder or a disk to gather water in).

Items that have half the weight of their ordinary supplies. (For example, plastic utensils instead of heavy metal utensils. And in storms it is better to have plastic anyway).

Ways to pack clothing and items so that they can fit more inside of their pack.

Packs that are in pieces instead of a one piece pack.

Good quality gear that is inexpensive.

Here are items and ideas that help campers have an easier time camping and also help campers carry less gear:

Large, lighter tents rather than family tents. Usually when you use family tents, the set-up is longer, and usually it takes two or three people to put the tent up, especially on a windy day. Instead of one enormous family tent, purchase a few smaller tents. You don't spend too much time inside the tents, so you can do with the smaller tents. You can let the children sleep inside one of the larger tents with you. You can manage that for a few nights.

Buckets, bins, containers and other items that hold smaller items. When you use buckets, bins and containers for inside of your tents, you can put all the smaller items inside one container. Then when you go to empty the tent, instead of making many trips back inside the tent for many smaller items, you just make one trip and take the bin out of the tent. This system cuts down on trips to the tent and cuts down on wear and tear on tents and zippers.

Flashlights, batteries and more batteries. Use solar-powered flashlights whenever possible. This is self-explanatory.

Hiking sticks. These are essential if you are hiking for a few days. Hiking sticks will take 20,000 pounds of pressure off of your knees on your average hiking trip. Now, there are special hiking sticks for photographers. They look exactly like a normal hiking stick except the top has a silver-color screw in it to hold the camera onto the top.

Food selection. If you are planning a short trip, consider using food that is already prepared. (You can bring raisens, bananas, fruits, and raw vegetables. You can bring popcorn, bread sticks, puffed rice and puffed millet. You can bring meat sticks and cheese sticks, and cans of tuna. None of these require refrigeration or preparation. Bring your vitamins along and you will do just fine on your trip.

Medications. If you are allergic to anything, remember to bring your allergy pills with you. If you have any other medical needs, bring everything that you need with you.

Electronics. Yes, electronics. If you have cellular phones or other gadgets that are for your safety, these are the things that you need to bring with you when you backpack. Bring a portable radio, preferably with solar batteries. You will need the radio to hear the weather reports. When you camp out in the forest or state parks, you need to know the forecasts so that you can be prepared to leave quickly if there are storms, tornadoes or hurricanes approaching.

Music. Bring mp3 players or music players to soothe everyone during the storm, and also these are good for nighttime if the campers are having trouble sleeping.

These are camping basics for a wonderful trip. I will write more articles on camping in the near future.

The author of this article has had many works published in the USA. With over two million Timberline tents sold, you know they?re definitely backed by popular demand 2 Large windows increase ventilation. Twin-rack, side-opening door allows for easy entry. 2 Mesh storage pockets, 2 clothesline rings. Shock-corded eaves give stability and tear resistance in windy conditions. Hooded fly in front and rear allows windows to remain partially open in rain for ventilation. Shock-corded seamless aluminum frame gives increased durability and stability, and is lighter weight than fiberglass. Junction tubes are custom-blended nylon for lightweight strength. Side pullouts on fly maximize head and shoulder space. Factory sealed main floor seams.
Customer Review: Not for harsh weather.
I was looking for a tent to keep my dry in all conditions - my previous coleman tent leaked at the side seams, even with seam sealing. I taken this 4 trips, and set up and taken it down about 10 times. It is very easy to set up with just one person. It is well constructed. However, I was greatly disappointed when I camped on the Texas coast. The wind bent two poles. The rain blew in under the fly even though all vents were zipped shut. By morning I had significant amount of water in the tent, one pole had a 45 degree bend in it. I have camped in a cheap coleman tent that didn't get damaged in high winds...and other tents collapsed. Perhaps if I had guyed it down the poles would not have bent, but it would not have stopped the rain. Perhaps, I could have turned the tent in another direction and it would not have had so much water come in...but it was already pouring rain. I had sealed the seams prior to the trip. You could literally feel the water misting throughout the tent. Bottom line, not a tent for adverse conditions. I am switching to a REI Halfdome 4.
Customer Review: The last tent you may ever need.
I have owned one of these for 27 years and only now is it showing signs of wear. The zipper is wearing out and the shock cords have lost their elasticity. For a tent that is in use at least nine days a year that is amazing!

Different kinds of fibres are available now-a-days. These fibres are mainly divided into two categories natural and man made. They are also categorized by the generations as they were produced in the different years and known as first generation, second generation, third generation or fourth generation fibres.

History of man made fibres

The fibres generated first were the natural fibres. In this category cotton, wool, silk and all other animal and plant fibres are included. These fibres were introduced first 4000 years back but their uses were continued till 1940. All these fibres are known as first generation fibres. Very delicate handling is needed for these fibres. Fibres like silks and cottons have not good resistance against moths, wrinkles, wear and washings. So discovery of durable fibres was a greater need and about one century ago first synthesized fibres Rayon/Nylon were produced. These fibres are cheaper in comparison with natural ones. The development of these new fibres opened up fibre application to the various fields like medicine, aeronautics, home furnishing and modern apparels. Fibre engineers produced many new fibres by combining new synthetic fibres with the natural ones.

In the year 1664 the first attempt was done to make artificial fibre, but success was achieved after 200 years only. A Swiss chemist Audemars first patented artificial fibre in England in 1855. He produced that by dissolving the fibrous inner bark of the mulberry tree and produced cellulose by modifying it chemically. He made threads from the solution by dripping needle in the solution and then drawing them out. His attempt was good but he could not copy the silkworm. He had done experiments with the solution similar to Audemars solution.

French chemist Hilaire de Chardonnet was the first one to produce artificial silk commercially in the year 1889. Later on he was known as father of rayon industry because he was the first to produce rayon commercially on large scales.

All the attempts of producing artificial silk failed till the year 1900 but in the year 1910 Samuel Courtaulds and Co. Ltd, formed the American Viscose Company and did production of rayon.

Arthur D. Little of Boston made a film from acetate which is a cellulosic product in the year 1983 and in the year 1910 Henry Dreyfus and Camille made toilet articles and motion picture film from acetate in Switzerland. In the year 1924 Celanese Company made fibre from the acetate and it was the very first use of acetate in the textile industry. At that time the demand of rayon was high because it was available on the half of the price than raw silk to the textile manufacturers so U.S. rayon production flourished to meet those higher demands.

About Nylon

The miracle fibre called Nylon was invented in the September 1931 at the research laboratory of DuPont Company. They saw giant molecules of these polymers when they were working on Nylon '66' and Nylon '6'.

Nylon is completely synthetic fibre obtained from petrochemicals and is very different from Rayon and Acetate which are made up of cellulosic material of plants. The discovery of Nylon started a new era of manufactured fibres.

A change in life style

In the year 1939 commercial production of nylon was started by DuPont. In the very beginning on the experimental basis they used nylon in parachute fabric, in women's hosiery and in sewing thread. Nylon stockings were firstly visible to the public at the San Francisco Exposition in February 1939.

At the times of war, Asian silk was replaced by nylon in parachutes. The other uses of Nylon are in military supplies, ponchos, tyres, ropes, tents and in the high grade paper to make U.S. currency. At the time of war cotton was the most commonly used fibre and its uses were more then 80% than any other fibres. Another 20% is shared by wool and other manufactured fibres. August 1945 was the time of ending of war, at that time cotton shares 75% of the fibre market and rise of 15% was seen in the market of manufactured fibres.

Read More on Fibre Development

Copyright 2007

Fibre2Fashion.com - Leading B2B Portal and Marketplace of Global Textile, Apparel Fashion & Retail Industry, Also Provides complete information on Fibre market Place industries through products, Articles, News, Jobs, and Events.

Columbia Hawk Ridge 10- by 7- Foot Three-Person Dome Tent

Columbia Sportswear Company was founded in 1938. Columbia Sportswear Company began as a small family-owned distributorship and today Columbia is one of the world's largest outerwear companies. The history begins with Paul and Marie Lamfrom. They fled from Germany and settled in Portland, Oregon. Paul and Marie opened up a hat distributorship and named their company the Columbia Hat Company. They took the name from the nearby Columbia River. Today, their 82 year old daughter, Gert, is the Chairman of the Board and her son, Tim Boyle is President and Chief Executive Officer. Columbia Sportswear Company has a wide-range of stylish, and functional products to choose from. Columbia is famous for their Interchange System. This concept was developed in 1982 and made Columbia a leader in the outerwear industry. Columbia first started with an interchange jacket which was made for hunting and featured a weatherproof outershell with an insulating inner jacket that could be worn together or separately, thus making each parka three or four garments in one. Because of the popularity of this garment, Columbia applied the same concept to a ski parka and called it the Bugaboo™. The Bugaboo became one of the best-selling ski jackets in history. In 1991, Columbia developed a waterproof, breathable coating Omni-Tech which makes it now the second-largest user of waterproof, breathable fabric in the world.
Customer Review: Wrong product description
The product description section contains the description of the company and how it is founded. I would have agreed about this irrelevant description of it would have been a third party seller. However, its sold and shipped by Amazon. So amazon should correct this.
Customer Review: really good
after i test the tend is confortable easy to set up I'm happy with it we are family that enjoy outdoor life I think that I pay good price for a good tend. Columbia Hawk Ridge 10- by 7-Foot Three-Person Dome Tent M'Caceres

There are a lot of plants that you will want to avoid when it comes to camping. You will want to know when you are near poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac. You will find that these plants are very painful rashes that will make you itch.

When it comes to the poison ivy you will find that it is the most commonly found dangerous plant in America. You will find that it can grow into four feet scrubs and is commonly a ground cover. It is rarely found in elevation in 5,000 or above, but you will find that it grows in most places that people camp. You will want to keep in mind that when it comes to leaves of there, let it be. This is a clear and common sign of poison ivy. You will also find that it can be a dull green or even purplish.

Another common plant to avoid is poison oak. When it comes to poison oak, you will find that it has some multi-lobed leaves, but it can also have fuzzy, fruit-like branches. The leaves are mostly scalloped around the edges, but it can also be wrinkled, rather than smooth like poison ivy. The leaves will grow in threes, but it is more common to see plants with five or more leaves. Usually, the poison oak will go in sandy solid and range from places from New Jersey down the eastern coast to Florida, but it could also go to places as Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. A to keep in mind is that poison ivy is the most common poison plant in the east, but it is poison oak that is in the western states and more in the south.

As for poison sumac, you will find that it is the least widespread plant, and it really isnt in many places, but the swamp areas and peat bogs. You will find that the leaves of this plant is bluish-green with the red tips. You will find that there are cream colored berries on this plant and it is just as toxic as poison oak and poison ivy. You will want to keep in mind that there are oils in this plant that will spread quickly and it will spread to other people through casual contact. On Saturday my husband and I camped out in the backyard ( with our beagle in between us :) ). It was very easy to set up like the other reviewers have stated. Great quality for the price. We didn't have any trouble with the zippers... though I was extra careful with them as other reviewers seemed to have trouble with them. First time 'camping' experience with this tent was a good one!

If you enjoy biking and the company of bikers, then youll be intrigued by what happens in the town of Port Dover in Ontario, Canada when the calendar conspires to produce a rare Friday the 13th. Billed as "Canada's biggest biker event" Port Dover 13 (PD 13) attracts over 100,000 bikers and enthusiasts every Friday 13th to the town on the north shore of Lake Erie. Each Friday 13th, the whole town closes down to four-wheeled vehicles, with the exception of local residents and suppliers, as Port Dover becomes a biker's heaven.

The tradition started in 1981, when Chris Simons persuaded 25 of his biker friends to ride to Port Dover in Ontario on Friday 13th November, meeting at the Commercial Hotel to celebrate the feeling of being a biker. They had such a great time that they vowed to return to Port Dover on every subsequent Friday 13th and so the PD 13 tradition was born. Some 26 years later the Commercial Hotel has changed its name to Angelos, but still serves at the HQ for the Friday 13th meeting.

At PD 13 you will find every size, shape and make of motorbike; Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas and the rest from standard road models to superb customised bikes worth tens of thousands of dollars each. Youll also find a similar diversity in the riders with all classes, creeds and both sexes well represented, as they descend on Port Dover for a pure biking fest. Many topics of conversation are covered at the event, although mostly to do with bikes, such as performance issues, the cost of tyres, escalating costs of bike insurance and the general day-to-day running costs associated with owning a bike.

The event has expanded so much now that it also includes a day of music featuring established artists. 2007, for instance, saw a performance by bikers favourite Steppenwolf - originators of the biker anthem "Born to be Wild". Because of its size and stature, the event is now worthy of significant corporate sponsorship and, rather than resent the intrusion, many local residents find ways to cash in on the event, from renting lawn space for tents to selling ice-cold beers and customised t-shirts. The whole day attracts significant media attention in Canada and in 2007 Torontos Q107 classic rock station broadcast live from the event, hosted by top Canadian DJ John Derringer.

Anyone can attend a PD 13 event and it costs only 220 for a weekend bike hire which also includes bike insurance to be part of Canadas biggest bikers event. But if you are tempted to travel from the UK to see the Port Dover experience for yourself, be sure to hire your bike well in advance as they sell out fast for Friday 13th weekends.

Adam Singleton is an online, freelance journalist and keen amateur photographer. I did not look very closely at the layout of the floor plan. It is 16 x 10, but it is not a square and is somewhat octagonal, which makes it feel smaller then it actually is. It is very easy to put together, and I recommend seam sealer for any tent. I really like how open the top of the tent is, and the way the fly wraps around in front. I am not sure about the two extra doors, but I think they will be useful for clean-up after camping. Overall this is a great tent and I can't wait to use it! But if you're looking for a roomy 16x10, this isn't the one.
Customer Review: solid family tent
This is a great light-weight tent -- have always been happy with my Eureka purchases. Fits 6 plus their "stuff" comfortably (more will fit, but we like to have duffle bags and room to stretch). Performed very well in wind and rain (I always seal all the seams on my tents -- no need to risk trusting that manufacturer did an adequate job sealing; so this was no "bathtub" as another reviewer had suggested). Only thing I could possibly complain about (and this isn't much of a complaint), is that it does take a while to get all the stakes/guy wires in place for this tent. I think I used 18 stakes altogether (which added stability, but also setup time).

The food you bring camping largely depends on how long you will be camping for. A cooler may work for a couple days, but if you're planning on camping for a while, you may have to do a little more planning so that your food won't spoil.

For an overnight trip with your car nearby, you have many options for food. With the right equipment, it's even possible to prepare a dinner similar to what you would make in your own kitchen. A large camping stove can make your camp-site a home away from home. Many prefer to be a little more traditional in camp fire cooking. Load up your cooler with cold drinks, hot dogs, and marshmallows for a dinner that's fun to prepare. Make sure you remember to bring something to hold your hot dogs over the fire with! Many stores sell prongs for this purpose. An easy alternative is to unbend a wire coat hanger.

**Always prepare for rain! Make sure to have some ready-to-eat snacks in case an outdoor campfire is not possible.

For long trips, keeping food cool may not always be an option. However, that doesn't mean you have to eat peanut butter sandwiches for a week! Many camping supplies stores sell freeze- dried dinners that are easy to prepare. A camping stove and a pot to boil water in can open a whole new range of foods. Mac and cheese, oatmeal, pita-pizzas (pita topped with sauce, mushrooms, and any other toppings that won't spoil), hot chocolate, and tea are just a few possibilities.

Find the best deals on camping supplies from http://www.gacampingsupplies.com

Coleman Montana Big Sky Seven-Person Dome Tent

Tents - Montana Big Sky Family TentManufacture ID: 9278A167This huge family style tent gives you plenty of room just like its namesake. It has plenty of room, nice looking, and weatherproof. Additionally, it is very simply and quick to set up. I purchased a stake set because the little metal stakes that come with the tent are not very sturdy. Otherwise, I love my new tent.
Customer Review: Happy Camper
Love my tent, even better Coleman backs all of there products, they care about there Customers. Thanks Colman

It is easy to set up and the mattress is very comfy. The only problem we had was that while sleeping and moving around, our 8 month old would tend to get stuck inbetween the mattress and side of the tent. This is because we took the mattress out of the bottom part so we could place a sheet over the mattress and it would be more comfortable for her. Next time I think we will just leave the mattress in the bottom of the tent and we wouldn't have this problem. Our daughter liked it but was a little scared at first as it is totally different than her crib. But, after a few nights she seemed to do ok. I think we will definitely be using this on all of our trips to visit family and friends.
Customer Review: Very compact, but lacking for active babies.
This bed's mattress can be inflated with the included pump, or with your own lung power. It also folds away easily into the included travel bag, though deflating the mattress could be easier if it included a larger outlet hole. It definitely meets the portable description. The biggest drawback is the tendency for an active baby to get his or her head wedged between the mattress and the tent part. When this happens, the baby is most likely going to wake up. If the mattress were designed with a raised edge it would probably help. If your child sleeps peacefully with little movement, you would likely rate this item higher.

Mosquito bites When you go outdoors, it is lush and green and your companions for the evening, sometimes, are also the local mosquitoes. While some people are not too affected by their bites, others (including me) are. In those allergic to the bites (me too), the irritation of the bite is followed by intense itching and a red swelling around the bite. This is because of the enzymes a female mosquito injects into the skin before sucking blood. While these bites are pretty harmless, there is the rare chance of some infection from them (malaria!) and in any case, they are best avoided.

Mosquito repellents abound in the market, and most of them seem to be pretty effective when used as directed. It helps to wear long trousers and full shirts.

If you get bitten, the best course of action is to do nothing. Scratching only intensifies the itch. If the irritation is very severe, rubbing ice, or any cold metallic surface helps to a great degree. The ideal thing to do is to get involved in something to distract from the itch.

If you don't mind, it doesn't matter!

Snakes

In the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, snakes rule. They seem to be found in every region we go to. Yet, we have not had a snake related casualty on a programme. The reason is that snakes are shy creatures. Very few of the snakes we come across are actually venomous and even the ones that are, would prefer to flee rather than encounter a creature many times its size and waste the precious venom that it uses for digestion and cannot do without. Humans are not prey sized for any of the snakes in our region in any case.

Still, snakes can bite, are slithery creatures and give most of us a jitter at the very least.

There are many things we can do to avoid snakes and snake bites. Look carefully before reaching into crevices or under rocks. Wear shoes in the wilderness at night and walk slowly to give them time to escape. If you come across a snake, stamp your feet to alert it to flee and move away.

In the rare case that you or someone with you gets bitten, look at the wound carefully bites from venomous snakes leave two puncture marks and non-venomous bites leave scratches. If you are in doubt, or if it is a venomous bite, tie a tourniquet on the thigh, or upper arm and reassure the victim and help him or her to be calm, to keep the heart rate as slow as possible and move to the nearest medical services at once.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO HANDLE OR CAPTURE SNAKES THAT YOU COME ACROSS UNLESS YOU HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE TO IDENTIFY THEM ACCURATELY AND HANDLE THEM ADEQUATELY. This is a leading cause of snake related accidents.

Scorpion bites Scorpions abound in the outdoors in India, and being careful is a virtue second to none. They are nocturnal, so it helps to be aware that they could be around after dark. Basic precautions include shaking the bedding thoroughly before getting in, if it has been laid out for some time, shaking out shoes before putting your feet in, not reaching into dark crevices of any sort without checking them out first. If stung, the procedure is the same as for a snae bite. Keep calm, restrict the spread of venom and rush to the first doctor you find.

Dehydration Dehydration is the most common medical problem in the outdoors and the chief cause of headaches and faintness. We are unaccustomed to spending a long time under the sun, or in physical activity. We lose a great amount of water through perspiration and even plain evaporation through our skin.

The result is a headache, faintness, chapped lips, exhaustion ... We need to drink water to cover our loss from exposure to the environment. Keep a water bottle with you at all times and make a habit of sipping from it. Hats, sunglasses and full clothing are useful in staying cool and minimizing water loss.

You will need more water than usual and not being used to it, you may not consciously feel thirsty, so try to consciously drink as much as you can. There is no such think as excessive water intake in the outdoors and you are not having enough if you don't need to go and pee every couple of hours.

Sunburn This one is self explanatory. Please apply adequate sunscreen, and reapply as needed. Hats, sunglasses, scarves and full clothing help. The more sensitive your skin is, the more careful you need to be about these things.

Chapped Lips The chief cause of chapped lips is dehydration (smoking too). Most of the time, it is fairly safe to say that if a person has chapped lips, he needs to drink more water. Vaseline, lipbalms, etc. help to protect and relieve discomfort, but cannot actually cure the lips that are parched.

Cuts and scratches These happen on exposed skin that gets rubbed on things near it. Long trousers and full sleeve shirts solve most of this problem. Being careful and avoiding scrapes does the rest.

Campfires An evening outdoors is all the more cozy around campfires. Some precautions can help make it worry-free.

Avoid campfires unless it is cold enough to require one, or you need it for cooking. The wood is best saved for fuel for locals, who might end up cutting trees in the absence of dead wood.

Build a fire in an area as sheltered from the wind as your site allows. Also build it downwind from your precious nylon tents that could get sparks and tinder from the wind.

Handle the fire from an adequate distance and with appropriate respect for consequences of carelessness. Pay particular attention to long hair and loose clothing when bending over a fire.

Enjoy to your hearts content!

Before retiring for the night, make sure that the fire is dead. Dunking a pail of water and putting a couple of flat stones on it is a good way of ensuring this. Wind directions often change in the night and early morning and you don't want to be sleeping soundly in your tent when the wind brings embers that way.

These ideas are precautionary, and there is a huge potential for fun. So don't forget to have a great time.

Vidyut Kale is a mountaineer turned outbound facilitator and does extensive work with children through experiential learning programmes as well. There is a flashback sequence, but they for some reason flash back to Slumber Party Massacre. All these massacre movies are pretty much the same, so I guess they got confused about which movie this was a sequel to. But it doesn't matter, because this movie sure is fun! It doesn't take itself as seriously as the first and that's a good thing. Sometimes it plays it straight, but sometimes it feels like it's starting to border on being a slasher spoof as opposed to a straight slasher film. There is plenty of violence and no less than six women show off their double d's, so fans of 80's slasher flicks should definitely enjoy this.
Customer Review: My Kind of Junk Food
This is one of my all time favorite "stupid slasher movies" ... and I'm not afraid to admit that it's quite simply because I like most of the women who were selected to run around partly and completely naked as the films story unfolds ... or was it ... falls apart. Cute, curvy girls bouncing around in weakly acted horror as their scantily clad bodies are put in evermore rediculous forms of peril ... how could I resist such a mindless offering? It's pure guilty pleasure ... and I've long since gotten over the guilt. :) Those of us who occasionally (or regularly) watch this sort of drivel know it's not about quality cinema ... it's about managing our sexual and personal frustration by indulging in a bit of mindless and gratifying stupidity. It's about letting your "real world" standards go for a few hours and letting your inner monster come out to play for a while. What often disappoints me about movies like this isn't their lack of writing, acting or cinematic quality ... I've come to expect these things. What I don't enjoy are mindless slasher movies with unattractive starlets, sparse nudity and little or no attempt at even lame horror. I mean ... if you're not even going to indulge our guilty pleasures ... what's the point. Well, this movie didn't disappoint ... slippery shower scenes ... bouncing babes with very curvy bodies ... plenty of mindless and stupid and highly unlikely horror ... it was JUST the ticket. Enjoy with a greasy cheese burger, cold pizza, cold fries and a soda ...

continued from Part 3 "Why Do Bad Things Happen To So-called "Good" People"

There are many Bible scholars who believe that the premise of Job was for God to teach Job a lesson. And the Lord said unto Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast his integrity. Satan suggested to God that He stretch forth His hand and destroy the family of this perfect and upright man who fears God and shuns evil, and destroy everything he owns and give him a hideous disease from head to foot. Then does God says to go ahead, give it your best shot? How could anyone possibly believe that and still call himself a Bible scholar? Pardon me, I digress!

How much more grievous trials would be without good friends to bless and comfort you! Or would they? Let's see what Job has to say about it: Job 2:11-13 Now when Job's three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, each one came from his own place--Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. For they had made an appointment together to come and mourn with him, and to comfort him. And when they raised their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on his head toward heaven. So they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great.

Eliphaz was the first friend. Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, If we essay to commune with you, will you be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking? Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands. Your words have upheld him that was falling, and you have strengthened the feeble knees. But now it is come upon you, and you faint; it touches you, and you are troubled. Is not this your fear, your confidence, your hope, and the uprightness of your ways? Remember, I pray you, whoever perished, being innocent? Or where were the righteous cut off? Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same (Job 4:1-8). And again, I have seen the foolish taking root; but suddenly I cursed his habitation (Job 5:3; see also Job 15:17).

Eliphaz was trying to comfort Job by arguing from a position of his own personal experience, hence the phrase, as I have seen. Now, that would be just fine if the person you were trying to convince was laboring under the same circumstances. Otherwise, what basis do you have to present or argue your point? Case in point, how could Eliphaz possibly relate his life experience with Job's? No two cases are exactly similar, so why even bother to interject yours into the mix? That was exactly the sentiment of Job, for no sooner had Eliphaz finished speaking than, without the slightest recognition or response to his words, Job proceeded with his own tale of woes, interspersed with self-vindication and bitter complaints against God (Job 6:7).

Bildad is the second well-meaning friend. He proceeds with an entirely different approach than Eliphaz. He does not refer to personal experience, or even to what he himself has observed. He appeals to others' past experiences. For inquire, please, of the former age, and consider the things discovered by their fathers, for we were born yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow. Will they not teach you and tell you and utter words from their heart? (Job 8:8-10)

Well, if the twisted theology and parched paradigms of Mathew Henry are any indication of wisdom or revelation knowledge derived from the traditions and counsel from our forefathers, then I can understand why we are exhorted to study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2Timothy 2:15) Get your revelations and truths from God's word by the Holy Spirit, not solely from man. If you receive the word from a man, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. (1John 4:1)

Bildad offers a much wider range of possibilities, both for finding answers and formulating questions. He offers the adage that there is safety in numbers as to obtaining reasonably truthful answers to life's difficult questions. Hence, there is more assurance, authority, experience and respectability through many "fathers" than through the limited experience of one individual. It would also hint at Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety. In the letter of historical facts experience may ring true; however, in the spirit of historical experience, you cannot find two men whose lives will parallel each other as to causal experiences. As for the traditions of men, their origins and foundations are shaky or nebulous at best. Neither experience nor tradition will judge on That Day, but only God's Word!

Therefore, as might be expected, Bildad's oration carried no more weight with Job than that of Eliphaz. Both efforts were empty and vain, carrying little to no comfort or solace. As far as their assessment of Job's relationship to God, they were 180 degrees off. They concluded Job must have sinned, Job insisted he didn't, and God backed him up. His friends were quick to judge Job based upon their own self-righteous view of the circumstances, from their own perspective, not God's. God's Word is the only standard and His is the only authority qualified to judge. By that standard alone, all men will be judged, and to Him every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!

If Job's friends had wielded words of compassion, comfort and encouragement rather than judgment and condemnation, they could have softened the unrelenting blows of the enemy. What's more, compassion and soft, tender words could expose Job's negative, distorted verbal assessment of God and perhaps even revealed the true root cause and source of his afflictions, the words of his mouth and the corresponding attacks of Satan.

Now comes Job's third friend, Zophar: But oh, that God would speak, and open His lips against you, that He would show you the secrets of wisdom! For they would double your prudence. Know therefore that God exacts from you less than your iniquity deserves. If you would prepare your heart, and stretch out your hands toward Him; if iniquity were in your hand, and you put it far away, and would not let wickedness dwell in your tents; then surely you could lift up your face without spot; Yes, you could be steadfast, and not fear. (Job 11:5-6; 13-15)

Job probably thought something like: how could this so-called friendly motivational seminar get any more depressing; and then comes Zophar. This guy's character assassination of God made Job's assertions seem less severe. To put it mildly, he did not know the Divine Character of God. How could anyone that claims to know God suggest that He could open His lips against... his servant Job, a man that God himself says that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil, And still he holds fast to his integrity-who has just had his entire family destroyed, everything he owns stolen or destroyed, and has been stricken with a dreadful disease?

How is Zophar any different from over 95% of the so-called theologians throughout the decades teaching these same fallacies and recording them in books? God is not against us... Romans 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He is not a legal exactor, as accused by Zophar (Know therefore that God exacts from you...) He is a liberal giver! I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. John 10:10 Then again, Zophar says, If you prepare your heart.

It is obvious he does not have a clue how to do that! If no man is good and all our hearts are desperately wicked, then how is that accomplished? As if he knew. What if he sets out to prepare his heart and finds nothing but evil and finds himself perfectly powerless? Then what? Zophar has not got a clue. He only knows God as a heartless exactor who can only open His lips against you.

Are you surprised that Zophar had no better success in converting Job to his way of thinking than either of the other two so-called "good" friends? They all were horribly torqued in their opinions; much like today there are spiritual leaders who are trying to figure out God by using legalisms, experience, and the traditions of men. (And He said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition, Mark 7:9.)

What did Job's friends accomplish in their feeble attempts to counsel or comfort him? Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man. (Romans 1:22) Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? (Job 38:2) They are doing to Job what Job did to God. Job speaks without knowledge, his words are without wisdom. (Job 34:35)

It is evident, by listening to the exhortations of Job's three friends, that they did not have a personal relationship with him. This was evidenced by the lack of compassion, empathy, or intimate understanding of Job's predicament, and especially their lack of trust in Job's assessment of his relationship with his God. I believe that this encounter between Job and his friends is analogous to the relationship of many pastors to their congregations as well as the relationship of most Christians to God. The key word is "personal." A personal, intimate, loving and trusting relationship is born out of faith in someone, which stems from knowing everything about them, their nature, character, values and core beliefs.

Hence, to develop a close personal relationship with God requires faith in Him. How can anyone have faith in someone they do not know? (Romans 10:17) So then, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The Word of God teaches us what God is like, His nature, character and His righteousness. Faith comes by hearing His Word, and the more of His Word we hear, the more we will know about Him and the more faith we will have in Him. If Job's friends could have looked at Job the way God looked at Job, and the way God saw Job, they would have approached him with love and compassion, looking for a way to bring him up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set his feet upon a rock, and established his steps (Psalms 40:2), and lead him into the light, not into darkness and despair.

The ministry of Job's three friends fell far short of silencing his relentless self-righteous rant at God's supposed injustice, but rather drove him into deeper despair and fueled his feeble attempt at vindication. He now digs in his heels and furiously lashes back in his defense of "self." Then Job spoke again: Job 12 You really know everything, don't you? And when you die, wisdom will die with you! Well, I know a few things myself-and you're no better than I am. Who doesn't know these things you've been saying? Look, I have seen many instances such as you describe. I understand what you are saying. I know as much as you do. You are no better than I am. Oh, how I long to speak directly to the Almighty. I want to argue my case with God himself. For you are smearing me with lies. As doctors, you are worthless quacks. Please be quiet! That's the smartest thing you could do. Listen to my charge; pay attention to my arguments. Are you defending God by means of lies and dishonest arguments? You should be impartial witnesses, but will you slant your testimony in his favor? Will you argue God's case for Him? Be careful that He doesn't find out what you are doing! Or do you think you can fool Him as easily as you fool people? No, you will be in serious trouble with Him if even in your hearts you slant your testimony in His favor.

Doesn't His majesty strike terror into your heart? Does not your fear of Him seize you? Your statements have about as much value as ashes. Your defense is as fragile as a clay pot. Be silent now and leave me alone. Let me speak, and I will face the consequences. Yes, I will take my life in my hands and say what I really think. God might kill me, but I cannot wait. I am going to argue my case with Him. But this is what will save me: that I am not godless. If I were, I would be thrown from His presence. (Job 13) Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. It is obvious that Job was still far from having a broken spirit or contrite heart. Sure, his friends were wrong in their assessment of Job's heart, the heart of God and in the way they dealt with Job. However, their deplorable behavior does not make Job right!

If Job had been quick to condemn and humble himself and acknowledge that he had a self-righteous, self-aggrandizing attitude, he would have stopped his friends' mouths and they would have had nothing to say. And, in turn, if they had spoken with compassion, tenderness and truly offered support, he would have melted instead of hardening his heart. Job insisted he had done nothing wrong and they insinuated he had done nothing right, leaving no room for agreement or understanding. They were headed down two separate roads that never intersected. to be cont.

In Part five you will learn that it is best to judge yourself rather that to be judged by God.

Douglas C.

The bucket of need feels bottomless and overwhelming. At the offramp I take, on my way to work, there are more homeless people congregating and living under the freeway, than I ever remember. I see tents now. The amount of migrant workers around the corner from work have doubled. The little shopping center near my home has been empty since the shooting that killed the two owners of the Sahib Indian Restaurant. I watch the hardened faces of commuters, and how people cut each other off, and nobody allows one to merge. And yet, I see the sidewalks filled with people, shopping bags in their arms. Something is so striking about the American need to shop, when the world is falling apart around them. Sometimes I am quite dismayed and disturbed. Sometimes I feel I could freeze into a state of apathy, too painful to consider. But activism exists all around us, what is your response?

I saw one of my clients the other night at an art opening. I almost talked myself out of going, because it was wet and raining, and I was tired from a full day at work. My daughter clinging to me, saying, "I need you," only added to my hesitance. But, I wanted to support my client. The show was the culmination of a series of workshops on different aspects of the Tarot deck. She is good friends of the artist who is also a client. She filled me in on the process of the workshop they had taken together, and then turns to me and says, "You won't be seeing me for awhile, I am letting my hair grow, everywhere, in response to the war in Iraq. I will not cut any of it until the war is over. She had actually heard a mother and daughter interviewed on KPFA, who were doing the same thing. "I felt inspired." My client said, "It's something I can do."

We all have to find our own response, that something that we can do to say No More War, or looking to see where the problems exist and offering a solution. Art is a response. Creating pieces of beauty, so our minds can focus on what is right in the world is a response, suicide bombers is another. Luna lived in a tree to help save the Redwoods. 738 days she lived in that tree, yet another way to say, "This matters to me."

Lisa Gaultier heads up a small nonprofit, that make these hair mats made from human hair and mushrooms. They were used to help clean up the Cosco Busan oil spill in the San Francisco Bay. The hair drags up the oil, and the mushrooms will soak it up and make for non-toxic compost. We started immediately sweeping hair into bags and a stylist in the salon sends it off to the Matter of Trust organization. And there you have a ingenious idea. Some people write letters, some people rally, and still others do nothing. It's people like Lisa that use their minds for great things, that inspire me. I've never met the woman, but I cannot stop thinking about the industry I am a part of, and the concept that salons can contribute to cleaning up waste, not just produce it, was a beautiful moment. I think now, about what is going into the trash. Can it be recycled?

I'm convinced that whatever people decide to do that they think will make a difference in the world, does not need to be public. It's more important that it is an action, because where there is action, there is reaction. Action has ripple effects, and you never know who that ripple will touch.

Decades later, Martin Luther King Jr. and his tireless crusade for human rights is ever present in my mind. Rosa Parks, Caesar Chavez, as well. Some ordinary people doing extraordinary things. These are people my daughter learns about now in preschool, and we can never forget. We all have our contribution to make, it is uniquely ours.

Although, my clients decision to grow her hair is a personal one, and most of the world won't know about it, it is a peaceful act. And the ripple effect of her action touches me. Small acts of activism are happening all around us-what is your response to what you see? Do something. And let me know what it is.

If you would like to know more, check out http://www.shineforth.com

Eureka Sunrise 9 4-Person 9-by 9-Foot Family Tent

Spacious enough to comfortably sleep up to five campers, the Eureka Sunrise 9 dome-style family tent is easy to set up and very well ventilated with four large hooded windows and no-see-um mesh panels in the ceiling. Then known as the Eureka Tent & Awning Company, its first wares were canvas products--most notably, Conestoga wagon covers and horse blankets for nineteenth century American frontiersmen--as well as American flags, store awnings, and camping tents.
The company increased production of its custom canvas products locally throughout the 1930s and during the 1940 and even fabricated and erected the IBM "tent cities" just outside Binghamton. The seven acres of tents housed thousands of IBM salesmen during the company's annual stockholders meeting, which had since outgrown its previous locale. In the 1940s, with the advent of World War II and the increased demand for hospital ward tents, Eureka expanded operations and began shipping tents worldwide. Ultimately, upon the post-war return of the GIs and the resultant housing shortage, Eureka turned its attention to the home front during the 1950s by supplying awnings for the multitude of mobile homes that were purchased.
In 1960, Eureka's new and innovative Draw-Tite tent, with its practical, free standing external frame, was used in a Himalayan Expedition to Nepal by world renowned Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person documented to summit Mt. Everest only six years earlier. In 1963, Eureka made history during its own Mt. Everest ascent, with more than 60 of its tents sheltering participants from fierce 60+ mph winds and temperatures reaching below -20°F during the first all American Mt. Everest Expedition.
For backpackers and families, Eureka introduced its legendary Timberline tent in the 1970s. Truly the first StormShield design, this completely self-supporting and lightweight backpacking tent became one of the most popular tents the entire industry with sales reaching over 1 million by its ten year anniversary.
Eureka tents have also traveled as part of several historic expeditions, including the American Women's Himalayan Expedition to Annapurna I in 1978 and the first Mt. Everest ascents by a Canadian and American woman in 1986 and 1988. In recent history, tents specially designed and donated by Eureka sheltered Eric Simonson and his team on two historic research expeditions to Mount Everest, this time in a quest for truth regarding the 1924 attempted summit of early English explorers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine. During the 1999 expedition, the team made history finding the remains of George Mallory, but the complete mystery remained unsolved. Returning in 2001 to search for more clues, the team found amazing historical artifacts which are now on display at the Smithsonian.
  Amazon.com Tent Guide
Selecting a Tent
Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between.
Nothing has broke on it. After about 9 years we did have leaks durring a major rainfall. I found that I still had the original seam sealer in its factory sealed plastic bag. I put new seam sealer on the rain fly and have not had problems since. It is easy to setup with the exception that the rain fly acts like a huge kite if it is windy. However the way the rain fly is configured allows you to open the tops of the windows when it is raining.
Customer Review: Believe what you read
Absolutley great tent just as advertised and reviewed by buyers. We have had another model Eureka tent for 20 years, camp frequently as a family and with boy scouts and it is still very usable. From what I see so far, I expect to do the same with this tent. We just had a Boy Scout Campout in 17 degree temperatures and the tent was great. When compared to most other tents used at the campout or that we looked at the quality of the Eureka was so superior. The floor and walls are much thicker and the frame is almost twice as strong. There are other comparable tents out but at a much higher price and even then I would feel good about the Eureka.
